When I visit my parents’ house, I never have to worry about going hungry. I know that their fridge will always be fully stocked, and their pantry will be filled with more snacks than I could ever need. But not every refrigerator is lucky enough to be filled with fresh vegetables, seasonal fruits and enough cheese to keep several families of mice happy. Some are absolute embarrassments, and many of them happened to be owned by bachelors.

We took a trip to the Dude Fridges Instagram account and gathered some of their most chaotic photos down below. Depending on how many people live in your household, it might be extremely difficult to keep your fridge fully stocked. If you’re a parent to several teenagers, it might seem like food vanishes within 24 hours of your trip to the grocery store. But if you live alone, you might have a hard time eating all of your produce before it starts to rot. And if you’re a single man living in a bachelor pad by yourself, well, your fridge might look a lot like the ones featured on this list.

According to their website, Dude Fridges is “a social media community that posts the funny, insane, and delicious contents that people store in their fridges.” It was started by Dillon Shipper in 2022, and since then, the Instagram page has amassed an impressive 84K followers. Today, the company sells merchandise and even partners with several popular food brands. And of course, they never run out of hilarious photos to post online!

Last year, Dillon Shipper, CEO and Founder of Dude Fridges, was interviewed by his alma mater, the University of Texas, to talk about how his page came to be. He shared that it was inspired by the “barebones fridges” that he and many of his friends had in college. But you don’t actually have to be a man to have a “dude fridge”; anyone can have one!

“I think there are a lot of ways to define it, but to me, the holy trinity of a dude fridge is that it just has shredded cheese, pickles, and beer,” Shipper explained. “Another big component of it is having zero food, but all the sauces in the world. It’s like you’re ready to pour on the extra flavor, but there’s nothing that you can actually use to cook.”

And although the account didn’t come to fruition until 2022, Shipper noted that he had the idea in his head for two years prior to that. “I’d just look at [my friends’ fridges] like, What the heck is going on? How do we live like this? I thought it was funny and I’ve always wanted to be in the social media world in some capacity. So, I had the idea and the name, but work’s busy and life’s life,” he shared.

Shipper also addressed what it’s been like to see his account grow so popular in such a short amount of time. “I knew in my head that I had something funny, and I think in any capacity, it’s cool to see your idea or humor validated. [But] I think this is just the beginning, like I want to have a huge following,” he told Alcalde.

“I want my account to be a place where people can go to just have a laugh and enjoy themselves. I want to also help up-and-coming brands as my reach gets bigger if people need space to advertise. And then I want to keep doing giveaways and making memes because that’s really fun for me.”

Shipper also admitted that seeing so many other people’s fridges has slightly influenced how he views his own. “When my friends come over, they look at my fridge and laugh about it. Recently, my mom was in town and she was like, ‘Oh, looks like you have a dude fridge right now.’ I feel like people are just starting to associate me with fridges, and it’s funny.”

Finally, the CEO revealed which fridges have been some of his favorites. “This one guy sent me a picture of 10 to 15 pancakes stacked up in the fridge, and that’s just such a typical dude thing to do. A lot of guys I know will just put stuff in the fridge and not cover it. A joke I’ve made on the account is like, ‘Why would I cover my food? The fridge is the cover.’ This other guy sent me one recently that had a thing of mayo right next to a Topo Chico, and my caption was like, ‘Dudes will literally survive a 12-month lease on just this.’ That’s the fun part too, getting to make these captions.”

And if your fridge is well organized with many labels on meals, you are probably very organized in all aspects of your life, which certainly is not a problem. But Tanner-Blaiser says that it might be “fun to relax and fly by the seat of your pants” every now and then!
