Nick Offerman served a flaming hot clapback to a troll who tried to shame him for portraying a gay man in The Last of Us.
With both empathy and sass, the longtime actor took a homophobic tweet and turned it into a mic-drop moment.
“Mr. Offerman, how dare you sound and act like Christ would,” one commented online after his response.

Nick’s fiery message came after an X user called him “godless and confused” in a tweet about his gay character in The Last of Us.
The HBO TV drama tells the love story of Bill (played by Nick) and Frank (played by Murray Bartlett), who are both survivors of a fungal brain infection.
Nick won an Independent Spirit Award for the role in 2024.

Last week, an X user criticized Nick for the character in the hit TV drama.
“I can’t believe you played a gay guy on The Last of Us. I will definitely not be watching Parks and Rec again,” they wrote in a homophobic tweet shared in the middle of Pride Month.
“I knew you were godless and confused from your book, but this is just sad and disgusting,” the user added.

Nick reshared the tweet, along with a sassy yet graceful show of allyship.
“I get so much of this unsolicited homophobia from ladies who doth protest too much, to whom I say that they and all comers are still welcome in my church, no matter who you might be lucky enough to kiss,” he responded.
He also took the liberty of including the colorful hashtags: #happypride #tryloveyoudumbf*ck

This isn’t the first time Nick has stood up to homophobia this Pride Month.
He slammed an anti-gay meme that featured his character, Ron Swanson from Parks and Recreation, shared by Michael Flynn Jr.

The original video from the comedy show featured Ron throwing a computer into a dumpster after getting frustrated over Google Earth.
Earlier this month, the doctored anti-gay version of the video was shared by conservative media figure Michael Flynn Jr.— the son of retired Army lieutenant general and Trump’s former U.S. national security advisor, Michael Flynn.

Michael’s version had an LGBTQ+ pride flag edited over the laptop screen.
“Good morning and Happy Sunday! … Just wanted to post how I feel about ‘pride’ month,” he wrote.

When Nick came across Michael’s edited video of the Parks and Recreation clip, he wasted no time in slamming the anti-gay sentiment.
“Ron was best man at a gay wedding you dumb fuck. #HappyPride,” he clapped back.

Netizens praised Nick for his latest response to an X user shaming his gay character in The Last of Us.
“This is how you use a platform for good. Thanks for persisting to take the high road, with courtesy and grace, but without giving an inch,” one said.
Another commented, “Imagine being homophobic towards a straight man.”

“Ron was the best man at a gay wedding. Did they even watch the show?” another said.
Another said, “Ron Swanson for president 2028!”
“Wow, people are hateful just to be hateful,” wrote another. “Well… we love you, and we love your allyship, and we love when you play straight roles AND gay roles.”

Last year, Nick condemned “homophobic hate” while accepting the Independent Spirit Award for best supporting performance in a new scripted series for his role as Bill in The Last of Us.
He expressed gratitude to HBO for “having the guts” to tell the story of people like Bill and Frank.

These are “stories with guts, that when homophobic hate comes my way and says, ‘Why did you have to make it a gay story?’, we say, ‘Because you ask questions like that – it’s not a gay story, it’s a love story.’”
The celebrated actor even won his first Emmy at the 75th annual Creative Arts Emmy Awards in 2024, winning Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series for his performance in The Last of Us.
