Opportunity Is at Your Own Door

Spread the love

Here is another story of a college student who lay awake one night wondering if he must abandon his educational course for want of funds. He was suddenly startled by a cry of “Fire”. It was a seaport town, and, on rushing out, he found a ship on fire. He met the owner and asked: “Are you going to save anything?” “No, if there is anything left tomorrow morning, I may try to get it, but there won’t be.”

“Will you sell here to me, just as she lies, for forty dollars?”

“Yes, indeed.”

The young man engaged a few students and other men, extinguished the flamers, and within a few days sold the wreckage for five hundred dollars. He took in at a glance the possibility of the situation; the captain could now see how to save anything.

People will try to tell you that all the great opportunity have been snapped up. In reality, the world changes every second, blowing new opportunity in all directions, including yours.
