Man Tells His Fiancée That Starting A Family Is Her New “Job,” She Calls Off The Wedding

Spread the love

Every serious relationship needs the couple to sit down and work out what they actually want, be it kids, a marriage, or just to run off into the woods. However, some men find it “easier” to just baby trap their partners instead of actually building a relationship of trust and respect.

A woman asked the internet if she went too far after calling off her engagement when her fiancé started making comments about her now “job” being having a baby. We reached out to the woman who made the post via private message and will update the article when she gets back to us.

Some folks see a baby as a way to keep their partner around and dependant

If you are unfamiliar with the idea of a baby trap, the concept is insidious but quite simple. One of the partners will do their utmost to either get themselves pregnant or to do the same for their partner. It shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone that a kid is a responsibility and an expense, so the primary caretaker of the newborn is now “trapped” with the other one.

When some men resort to baby trapping their partners, it is often a manifestation of deeper insecurities and a misguided search for stability. In these cases, the decision to initiate parenthood is not solely about the desire to have a child—it is used as a tool to cement a relationship or to prevent a partner from leaving.

The fear of abandonment can drive a man to believe that fatherhood will create an unbreakable bond, ensuring loyalty and commitment even if other parts of the relationship are failing. Underlying this behavior can be societal pressures and cultural narratives that equate fatherhood with responsibility and maturity, even if they still see the majority of the work as a “woman’s job.”

In some contexts, having a child is seen as the ultimate sign of a man’s commitment, and for those who struggle with self-doubt, the idea of being indispensable in a partner’s life becomes very appealing. This approach, however, often overlooks the complexities of a healthy relationship, reducing the partnership to a transactional exchange rather than a genuine connection built on trust and mutual respect.

So this is why it’s important to truly trust your spouse or partner before having a kid

Another factor may be the desire to control the dynamics within a relationship. By creating a situation where a child is involved, some men might feel they have more leverage in decision-making or believe that the presence of a child will naturally resolve conflicts. This line of thinking, however, can lead to long-term emotional consequences for both partners and the child, as it shifts the focus from nurturing a supportive environment to managing a power imbalance. Similarly, creating pressure on a woman about how to use her body is manipulative at best.

In essence, using a child as a means to secure a relationship is not an act of love but one of desperation. It reflects unresolved personal issues and a misunderstanding of what truly strengthens a bond. True commitment comes from open communication, mutual support, and a willingness to work through challenges together—qualities that cannot be substituted by the mere act of becoming parents.

Now, it’s also important to add that we don’t know if this was his real intentions. Maybe he really did pick his words poorly. However, at the same time, it’s worth asking why the woman would end an engagement over a feeling. While we do not know their exact dynamic, it’s worth considering the fact that she knows him better. If she had a bad feeling, it must be based on her own experiences.
