“Crucified Every 5 Minutes For Breathing”: Massive Support For Katy Perry After Wendy’s And Ke$ha Mock Her

Singer Ke$ha seemingly shaded Katy Perry by posting a photo of herself sipping from a Wendy’s cup just hours after the fast-food chain mocked Katy’s brief Blue Origin space adventure.

On Tuesday (April 15), the Tik Tok singer shared a selfie in which she smiled while holding a Wendy’s cup, the logo clearly facing the camera.

The tension between the two singers appears to stem from Katy’s decision to collaborate with music producer Dr. Luke on her 2024 album, 143, despite Ke$ha’s allegations that he r*aped her.

In her 2014 lawsuit, Ke$ha alleged that the producer, whose real name is Lukasz Gottwald, had “s*xually, physically, verbally, and emotionally abused [her] to the point where [she] nearly lost her life.”

The lawsuit included an alleged r*pe that occurred in 2005 at Nicky Hilton’s birthday party, after the producer gave the hitmaker illegal substances. The two settled the lawsuit in June 2023.

Katy addressed the controversy of working with the music producer during an episode of Alex Cooper’s Call Her Daddy podcast.

“Look, I understand that it started a lot of conversations. He was one of many collaborators that I collaborated with. But the reality is, it comes from me,” she said of her latest album.

“The truth is, I wrote these songs from my experience of my whole life going through this metamorphosis.

“And he was one of the people to help facilitate all that. One of the writers, one of the producers.”

Before Ke$ha posted her selfie, Wendy’s account on X (formerly Twitter) replied, “Can we send her back?” to a post that read, “Katy Perry has returned from space.”

The account further interacted with a user who asked, “She was only up there for like 10 mins, right?” by replying, “Don’t short change her it was 11 minutes.”

Wendy’s X account humorously responded to photos of the Firework singer kissing the ground after returning to Earth from the Blue Origin space mission, writing, “I kissed the ground and I liked it,” in a nod to Katy’s I Kissed a Girl lyrics.

The fast-food chain also asked if they could “send her back”

The messages targeting Katy divided opinions. Some felt they were too harsh, while others—who have “canceled” the star over her collaboration with Dr. Luke—celebrated the posts.

“This woman has done literally nothing but make music and try to spread messages of love, light, and kindness and yet she’s CRUCIFIED every five minutes for breathing,” one fan wrote.

“She works with a predator,” another person replied.

“Working with Dr Luke is just an excuse, she was hated for no reason even before idk what you want her to do like she’s the sweetest popstar and always supporting other artists,” said an additional user.

A fourth user shared: “She worked with Dr. Luke after all that’s happened, for her most recent album, and she chose to. Why y’all acting like she’s a saint please.”

A fifth countered: “So we skipped the r*pist and decided to attack the person who worked with him instead?”

On Monday, Katy became the first pop star in space when she flew aboard Jeff Bezos’ New Shepard rocket, alongside Bezos’ fiancée, Lauren Sanchez, journalist Gayle King, NASA rocket scientist Aisha Bowe, civil rights activist Amanda Nguyen, and film producer Kerianne Flynn.

Katy brought a daisy as tribute to her four-year-old daughter, Daisy, whom she shares with English actor Orlando Bloom.

Inside the capsule, she appeared to show the camera a small paper butterfly containing the setlist for her upcoming Lifetimes tour.

She also kept her promise and sang What A Wonderful World from space.

Upon returning to Earth, the Grammy nominee promised to write a song about her otherworldly experience, which she said was the second best thing that has happened to her since becoming a mother.

“This experience is second to being a mom. That’s why it was hard for me to go because that’s all my love right there, and I have to surrender and trust that the universe is going to take care of me and protect me and also my family and daughter,” she said.

“I am full up from being able to get that gift of being a mom, and to go to space is incredible, and I wanted to model courage, worthiness, and fearlessness.”

Katy faced criticism last year after releasing the music video for Woman’s World, a song produced by Dr. Luke.

Some described the video as “feminism gone wrong,” citing its combination of themes of female empowerment with the hypers*xualization of women.
