The first rule—the first—of friends’, relatives’, or anyone else’s homes is you don’t dis the homes. Doesn’t matter if it’s the shantiest shanty in shanty town or the most esteemed estate in … Estatesville, USA. Or something.
Point is, be respectful towards people’s homes!
Unfortunately, not everyone adheres to this rule, and so consequences must be faced.
Enter this one woman and her 3 kids who have the makings of a homewrecker (the literal kind), and the woman’s brother and his wife are not gonna have any of that.

This one’s a short one, but a good one. Redditor u/Intelligent-Bear1617 recently went to the r/AITA subreddit to share a predicament she’s in.
You see, her husband has an older sister who is a mother of 3 kids, ages 6, 8, and 9. The sister lets her kids behave in a variety of ways, including destructive and messy ones. And what is worse, she allows them to do that beyond the confines of their own home.
The destructive and messy things that the kids generally do are kicking a ball around inside the house, this way breaking OP’s possessions (more than once); jumping on the furniture with their shoes on and thus leaving nasty stains on it; and leaving empty storage containers on the floor and walking away with whatever they wanted to get.

The husband did try to talk some sense into the sister, but with no luck, as she simply brushed it off. They also tried to talk to the kids, but they ended up simply being told off—“you’re not our mom/dad.” You’d think this is a setup for a malicious compliance or petty revenge story, but no, more of a play stupid games, win stupid prizes kind of ordeal.
And win stupid prizes they did. OP decided that if her husband wishes to deal with this, he can (though we later find out he didn’t and supported the wife), but she won’t take it any more. So, if she’s at home, and the husband is not, then neither the SIL, nor the kids are welcome there. And if she wants to find out when he’s coming home so she can visit, she should contact him herself.
So, this in turn forced OP (and later her husband) to tell SIL that neither she, nor her 3 kids are welcome at their home any more

Needless to say, the sister-in-law was upset about it. Despite the husband also telling her that he stands by OP’s decision and seconds it, OP is still “the worst offender.” But she left it to the AITA community to decide. And decide they did.
NTA. Not the bung-hole, straight off the bat. It’s her house, it’s her rules. If anything, the kids shouldn’t be acting the way they are because it is absolutely disrespectful. Folks went on to call this a parenting fail, and some even went so far as to say they would have kicked them out on the spot.
But folks online had something else to say, namely that the SIL and her three kids are the bad guys here
But, all in all, folks praised OP for setting boundaries and standing her ground. She does not deserve her home to be a mess just because someone can’t get their kids straight, so it’s only fair.
