Tenant Attempted To Get Rid Of The Smelly Carpet That’s Causing Allergies, Her Landlord Disregarded The Problem

There are so many varieties of evil in this world – absolute evil, lesser evil, necessary evil, chaotic evil, lawful evil, neutral evil, and there is also one special kind – small, unslayable evil, which, no matter how much you fight it, cannot be destroyed as long as humanity exists.

And that very variety of evil includes landlords who, at first, neglect to report any problems when describing their apartments, and then, when the tenants face hardship after settling in, do not react at all.

The TikToker @depressscious had to face exactly this kind of landlord and made a video which went viral, gaining more than 100K views and 24.1K likes.

The landlord provided a video tour of the apartment

So, the blogger, whose name is Megara, found herself a new apartment, which she really liked at first – all the more, the owner provided a video tour of the home. And everything would be fine if not for one problem – not a single video tour is able to convey smells.

The carpet in one of the rooms exuded a scent of wet dog hair and much more

Actually, there was a large carpet in one of the rooms which exuded an indescribable scent of wet dog hair, and even more. As Megara herself says, it seemed like a big, wet Labrador or Weimaraner rolled around on this carpet for at least ten years.

In addition, the scent of hair was mixed with the smell of dog urine, which seemed to be firmly absorbed into the carpet backing. According to the property management, it was the carpet cleaners who had left the damp carpet and the smell should go away once it had dried.

The woman also experienced an unpleasant burning in her eyes, nostrils and throat

Needless to say, time passed, the carpet dried – but the smell had not gone away. Megara tried to use various means – from nag champa to Yankee Candles, but the stench still remained, despite all the woman’s attempts to cope with it.

As a result, over the next few days, Megara also experienced an unpleasant burning in her eyes, nostrils and throat. Apparently, it was the dog urine that soaked the carpet. The blogger believes urine fumes contain ammonia, which can really negatively affect the human body.

Megara is threatening to sue the landlord if the carpet isn’t changed

Megara claims that the carpet is too bad for her health and is threatening to sue the landlord if it is not changed. After all, in her own words, she doesn’t keep pets, and replacing the carpet is none of her business, so it will definitely end up in court.

People online mainly supported the tenant in her fight against the property management

By the way, most of the commenters supported Megara in her confrontation with the property management, recalling their own similar stories. It has often happened that tenants have encountered some unpleasant circumstances and did not receive any answer from the landlord.

Some folks even offered Megara legal assistance in a possible lawsuit

There were also users who offered the woman legal assistance in a possible lawsuit with the property management and practically everyone is sure that it is worth suing – especially if the landlord still does not change his mind (and the stinky carpet too).

We sincerely hope you have never found yourself in situations where negative living conditions in an apartment could affect your health, but in any case, we are waiting for your thoughts and comments. After all, just because a small evil is unslayable doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be fought.
