Drawtism says he’s creating illustrations to disturb the comfortable. Or to comfort the disturbed. Whatever the case, one might call his works funny, low-brow, nonsense drawings… And the artist would be fine with all of these epithets. He just wants to help people escape the mundane part of day-to-day life.
“A lot of people find comfort in wholesome [content], and I do also!” Drawtism told Bored Panda. “I’m a huge fan of Liz Climo, Adamtots, and Coolman CoffeeDan. But I’ve always had a very dry and blunt sense of humor with an almost ‘outside of the box’ imagination and a slightly surreal approach. I think it’s possibly a British sense of humor,” he tried to pinpoint the origins of his no-BS approach to telling stories.
The UK-based artist resides on the border between England and Wales and hasn’t had any formal art training or education. Officially, he’s an engineer. But by no means does his profession limit Drawtism’s creative capabilities. He’s developed a unique visual style and is keeping it real.
