These Brothers Recreated The Whole Movie Of Toy Story 3 And It Took Them 8 Years

Spread the love

Most of us love animated movies. Disney, Pixar, and many others have created amazing films that warm our hearts to this day. However, some are bigger fans than the rest. Like these two brothers for example. Morgan and Mason McGrew, 23 and 20 years old, took 8 years to re-create one of their favorite movies – “Toy Story 3”.

“Inspired by the incredible artists at Disney and Pixar, my brother and I wanted to create a tribute to our favorite film franchise while also practicing our media creation skills,” – Morgan told Bored Panda. The recreation is quite impressive. The smallest details are thought through. They show their love for the movie in a spectacular way. Have you ever been so inspired by something that you just had to show the world or create something that represented that love?

Movie versus remake

They posted their progress on their YouTube channel. The trailers themselves got about 2.5 million views while the full remake currently has about half a million. The brothers did an impressive job even though they didn’t have all the money that Pixar had creating the movie.

The brothers started this project after seeing “Toy Story 3” in the movie theater. They began collecting every single toy from the films. You could say the siblings became a little obsessed. They wanted to thank the creators of their favorite film in some way so the live-action project began.

“Toy Story 3” was released in 2010. To this day, it’s one of the most popular Pixar movies, bringing in a whopping 1 billion dollars at the box office. In this part of the franchise, the owner of the toys (Woody, Buzz Lightyear, and many others) leaves for college and the toys are faced with the sad reality of kids growing up and not caring about them anymore.

The re-creation of this film was not easy. The two brothers had a lot of work and planning to do. Morgan and Mason used stop motion and many other techniques while recreating the movie. They had to analyze the movie scene-by-scene so that they would get it right. The brothers didn’t have the technology or the editing software Pixar had, so they used their phones and other simple equipment to do this. They synced up what they filmed with the original soundtrack of the movie.

The actors in the remake were all Morgan’s and Mason’s friends and family members. The dedication they and their family showed for 8 years is astonishing. Hopefully, their hard work will inspire others to not give up on their dreams and achieve their goals no matter how long it takes or how hard it gets! What do you think about this re-creation?
