1985 Sitcom “The Golden Girls” Is Getting A Reboot With An All-Black Female Cast Starring Tracee Ellis Ross And Others

If we’re being honest, is there anyone who’s been living their lives without ever hearing about The Golden Girls? Well, in case there actually is a person like that, The Golden Girls is an iconic sitcom television series that was created by Susan Harris and originally aired on NBC from September 14, 1985 to May 9, 1992 with a total of 180 episodes.

Apparently, the show is sort of coming back, but with a cast of all-black actresses and the first episode has already aired!

A few days ago on Instagram, Tracee Ellis Ross teased that something is coming

A few days ago, Tracee Ellis Ross shared a quick video on Instagram featuring the original cast of the show morphing into an entirely different set of women, including Tracee herself, Regina King, Sanaa Lathan, and Alfre Woodard. Moreover, Trace announced that the first episode was about to air at 9 p.m. EST/6 p.m. PST Tuesday.

Apparently, this remake is in partnership with Zoom, and the first episode was spotlighting and supporting Color of Change—the nation’s largest online racial justice organization. These ladies are joining together to recreate The Golden Girls via Zoom, making it convenient for all of us to watch it at home.
